The club has been serving the interests of short wave listeners, electronics enthusiasts and radio amateurs for over 40 years. Lectures on associated subjects, library, equipment loan scheme, surplus equipment sales and national competitions entered make this a useful club to belong to.

The Havering Numismatic Society was founded in 1967 to encourage coin and medal collecting in the area. We welcome new members of all ages who would like to make friends and learn more about the history and geography of coins and tokens, both modern and old.

HAVERING UNIVERSITY OF THE THIRD AGE (U3A)

The aim of the U3A is to offer a variety of opportunities for retired people to use their knowledge, skills and experience and to acquire new ones in an informal, friendly atmosphere. It is a mutual self-help organization neither awarding nor requiring qualifications. The roles of teacher and student are entirely interchangeable.

 
HAVERING WRITERS’ CIRCLE

Havering Writers Circle aims to encourage and assist the development of writers in Havering. Members vary from published authors to absolute beginners. We read each other’s work, provide constructive criticism and discuss various aspects of the writer’s craft. We hold workshops and receive guest speakers at intervals throughout the year.

We have interesting speakers at our monthly meetings and outings planned to historical houses. The society operates the Upminster Tithe Barn Museum of Nostalgia for the London Borough of Havering, where entry is free on Open Days.

 
ROMFORD & BRENTWOOD FOLK DANCE SOCIETY

Come on your own or with friends and enjoy the dances, mostly traditional English social dances or recently devised variations. No charge for first visit.

 
ROMFORD & DISTRICT HISTORICAL SOCIETY

The society was founded in 1956. We hold monthly meetings (excluding July and August), featuring talks on local topics. Since 1968, we have produced an annual journal the Romford Record, containing items of local historical research or interest. We also hold regular outings and produce five newsletters a year.

Established in 1931, we uphold Scottish culture in whatever way we can. Our Ladies Scottish Country dancing group meets weekly, we celebrate St Andrew's Day and hold a Burns Festival Supper each year and run quiz nights and arrange group outings to places of interest.

Word Weavers have been meeting at Fairkytes since 2001. We are a friendly, open group sharing stories and poetry. We hold occasional performance events, including National Poetry Day at various local venues. Copies of our anthology, featuring our work, are available to buy.
